Hajo Greif is a philosopher working in the field of history, philosophy, and social studies of science and technology. His research is focused on evolutionary and computational accounts of cognition. In investigating the domains of situated cognition, cognitive artefacts, teleosemantics and artificial intelligence he takes a naturalistic approach.
Hajo earned his PhD at Technische Universität Darmstadt and was a fellow at the University of Edinburgh, Munich Center for Technology in Society, and Institute for Advanced Studies on Science, Technology and Society, Graz where he co-founded the ICT research unit at the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Technology, Work and Culture. He taught at University of Klagenfurt, FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences and Munich Center for Technology in Society. Currently he is working within the Philosophy of Computing Group at Warsaw University of Technology. His papers appeared, inter alia, in Studies in History and Philosophy of Science, Synthese, Minds & Machines, Biology & Philosophy, Avant. He is the author of books Wer spricht im Parlament der Dinge? (2005) and Environments of Intelligence (2017). Currently preparing a book Organic Forms and the Adaptive Mind.
